(Maybe I should just change this blog's name into 'Pissed and bitchy is me' or 'Rant diaries' or something along those lines.)
Today, we had to visit a client's place which is several bus-stops of my house. On the way to the client's place, my colleague was recounting how well designed and how luxurious the place in which he/she is living at is. In light of my architecture training, I appreciated the conversation. Several hours later, on the way back, when dropping me off, he/she made a side comment about how 'ulu' the area was. Perhaps it was just a slip of the tongue and I believe he/she didn't have any ill intentions, but under the pretext of the earlier conversation, sensitive me just felt a little uneasy.
I'm writing, not because of my discontentment of anything of that sorts, but rather because I think I just received feedback today (from someone else) that the way I speak and comment/critique is straightforward and more often than not, sarcastic. It is not the first time I have received such feedback but having that scenario occur to me as the receiving party, I suddenly feel a tad bit guilty. Would apologies have helped? I think not, that would have made it even more awkward. Would just shutting up have helped? Not possible, commenting was my task! Would it have been better to give a suggestion? ...Will that make me sound unsure?... Perhaps it would have been the best if I just faced everybody with a formal me?
Not sure, just y'know, food for thought over (the upcoming) christmas. How to talk?
Berry difficult question. Meanwhile, merry christmas from the ulu area.
